Well, today is a red letter day. I took a shower AND fixed my hair AND put on makeup. Some days I only get to one of those and it isn't always the shower.
C.S. Lewis says that the morality of a society can deteriorate in part when individuals drift away from one another. I'm not sure exactly what he meant by that but it made me think of our society and how we seem to be trying to prove false the statement "No man is an island". Sure we can chat online and we can find out what's happening in each others lives by reading facebook statuses or blogs, but do we really know each other? Do we know each other's hearts? Do we know when the people around us are hurting or in need? Do we share our hurts and needs with others? I believe we need to find out what is hidden beneath the smiles and updates and statuses and bear one anothers burdans and let our own burdans be lightened or lifted. We must all be more humble, more honest and more helpful.

I agree
ReplyDeleteI love talking face to face with someone. Its hard to do with little ones running around but it can be done.
Good thoughts. Sometimes all it takes is a phone call... I even like to preface my call with "I just have 10 minutes, but I was thinking of you and wanted to catch up"
ReplyDeleteMost days I wish I didn't *have to* take a shower, AND put on makeup, AND wear a "presentable" outfit. hahaha
I agree. You can only know so much about people based on their online persona. And sometimes it's stuff you really don't want/need to know. ;) In-person relationships are the best. But when distance separates us, blogs are a good alternative. I'm so glad you are blogging and I will eagerly await more unsolicited advice!
